Haylie nodded, her mind turning to pizzas, nachos and tortilla wraps. As an eight year old, her fave foods were homemade versions of takeaway food. She opened the cupboard, revealing the shelves that were filled only with basics. Bread, some pasta, cereals, and fruit and vegtables, along with some other things.
Abby smiled and whispered back. Let's just see how they are doing, shall we?

Ryan nodded, placing his hand on her lower back. Lead the way! he said quietly.
Jess peeked over Haylie's head and saw the food supplies. I think we need to make a list of stuff we want!
(occ-when is the mom coming home?)

Jess wrote obediently as Haylie listed items. Is your mom home? If she is, I need to tell her that we're here and what's going on. Jess said.
(occ-that's fine)

Haylie grinned as Jess wrote them. She hadn't been serious but loved it. Yeah, I'll call her. She picked up the phone and hit the speed dial to the office number. Harriet picked up, and Haylie thrust the phone at Jess after a quick 'hello mum, hold on!'

Came the voice. After another few moments the click was heard as Harriet hung up. Haylie smiled at Jess, pulling on her shoes.

Haley giggled and sprinted out the door, then glanced around until her gaze settled on his car, she walked over, stopping only to pat her passing dog.

Hop in Haylie! yelled Jess. He sidled over and slid into the black pick up. He turned it on and said, You can change the radio station if you'd like. He backed the truck out of the driveway and was soon at the store.

"Okay!" Haylie opened the pickup and slid into the passenger seat, buckling in. She twisted the dial as she flicked away from statons with advertisments or talking, and onto the first one with a decent song.
At the store, she jumped out and shut the door, then waited for Jess.

How do you want to this Haylie? Split up or stick together? asked Jess upon arrival. He glanced over the list quickly. We need a lot of stuff, he said more to himself.

"Split up." She said. She was eight, she told herself, just cause her mum hadn't let her split up at the shops, Jess didn't know that. Haylie grabbed a plastic basket and headed down the far aisle, collecting the cold dairy products.

Okay, said Jess absentmindedly, also grabbing a basket. He went down the aisles collecting food, ignoring the list. He grabbed whatever looked good. He paused when he was done, searching for Haylie. Dam.n where did she go? I just saw her!

Haylie filled her basket with essentials of eggs, milk, butter, cheese and so one, along with some icecream. She passed by Jess then continued on, grabbing some bread and fruit. She hoped Jess had got dinner stuff, like pasta or chicken or sausages. She was deciding between cereals when She saw Jess at the end of the aisle, looking around. "Got everything?" She called, sneaking up.
