There was a more secluded part of the beach, less commercial than the other parts. None of the people who rented out beach houses knew about it. In fact, only those who'd lived in Paradise City for quite a while knew about it. It's secret-if you considered it a secret, that is-was well kept among the locals. It wasn't talked about, big beach parties didn't come to call as they did on other parts of the beach. It was quiet, a place to think or just enjoy yourself alone, with a lover, or with a friend. Even horses were fine here, so long as they didn't destroy it's beauty.
It was here that Billie Joe decided to come today, while the sun was shining down comfortably on the white sand and the delicate breeze made the palm leaves dance. He trotted bareback upon a huge black Percheron stallion past the main beach and onto a hidden trail. The stallion and man rode quietly through the shaded trail, sunlight shining through spots in between leaves and leaving a dappled green pattern on the sand. Finally, the trees cleared and opened onto a seperate beach, completely empty save for a few passing seagulls. There were no screaming children, no parents hollering at their kids to come closer to shore before the tide pulled them out. Just Billie and the stallion, alone.
The Percheron danced excitedly, remembering delightful times on this beach. He tossed his head and whickered softly, ready to get some energy out. Okay Sinbad, go ahead, Billie told him quietly. Without any further need for instruction, the stallion cantered towards the breaking waves, jumping over some while meeting others full force. The spray splashed up onto Billie Joe's tanned face and was sprinkled into his messy black hair. Sinbad even reared up in delight, letting his rider drop right off his back and into the waist deep water.
Billie resurfaced after a moment and spit out some water he'd accidentally swallowed. Thanks, Sinbad. Now I'm soaked. He looked down at his previously dry black t-shirt and khaki cargo shorts and sighed. With a shrug, Billie took off the shirt and shorts and tossed them onto the beach. Eyeing Sinbad's lead rope, which he'd used as makeshift reins, dragging through the water and in danger of being stepped on, he beckoned the stallion over and unclipped it, throwing it onto the beach as well. Billie hoisted himself back up onto Sinbad's back, now just in black silk boxers, and cantered the stallion up and down the beach in more shallow water, finally content after the week's hard work.

'Cause when I'm a bullet shot out of a gun 'Cause when I'm a firecracker comin' undone Or when I'm a fugitive ready to run, all wild-eyed and crazy No matter where my reckless soul takes me
Steps of the shire's hooves were hesitant on the warm, water-kissed sand as she moved quietly. A girl sat atop the silver and ivory filly. The flicka's orbs were a gentle blue-green, matching the colouring of the broken waves. The chopped cut of the girl's hair made it wafe and wander as the breeze picked it up, glimpses of lime green were visible near her collar. Bare heels tapped the filly's sides in reassurance as she collected her hooves and trotted easily, feathers catching the wind. Kris, her eyes the same colour as the wind-whipped blue-white sky cascading above the sea, lifted her hands from the unbridled mare. She spread them like wings and giggled like a schoolgirl. The equine she rode wore nothing around her head, her rider trusting her with her life. Her inferno coloured eyes closed against the whipping wind as the mare extended to a canter, her legs wrapped around her barrel, leaning low against her neck, the coarseness of Skit's mane caressing her face.
She leaned backwards lightly and the horse skidded to a stop. Kris slid her left leg to the right side of Skit and slid off into the sand. Her dark blue camisole in deep contrast to her paleish skin tone. The button on a pair of light denim shorts reflected light...no, it wasn't the button, it was the metal of a disc that rode on a piercing that made its way through her bellybutton. She turned and grasped a few strands of the mare's mane, leading her into the shade of a palm tree. She slid down the trunk and sat in the hot sand. A soft smile spread across her pale-pink lips as the mare stayed near her. Her eyes crinkled at the sides as she smiled, her brown eyeliner creasing slightly. She pulled her hair back tightly, wrapping an elastic around it, yet bangs still fell forth into her eyes despite her attempts to hold it back.
The prancing of a Perchon caught her eye. A man wallowed in the water, obviously talking to the stallion that was prancing estatically. She stood, and took a handful of mane in her hand, restrainig Sunskitter. She stroked the ivory muzzle with affection. Although it looked as if the girl wasn't paying any attention to the scene unfolding about her she would glance out the corner of her eye every so often, giggling silently at the forceful playing of the stallion. After she was sure that Sunskitter would walk off, she released her grasp and sat back down in the shade. She laid gently in the warm sand, the sensation flowing from her back to her toes. She kicked off her navy blue flip-flops that matched her camisole so that they were near her now-bare feet. As she leaned back, her hand came self-cousiously to her stomach, covering the bare area that her piercing rode in. But, in spite of herself, she brought her hand to the small hole in her lower lip. Where, when she was sixteen, she had pierced her lip. That was when she was going through her emo stage. Now, she used her easy life as an excuse to be punkish.
Baby you save me

A smile graced his lips as he pulled lightly on the stallion's mane, bringing him back down to a light, springy trot. The Percheron tossed his head and plunged back into the salty waves, bringing his rider along for the ride. Sinbad leaned backwards, going into a position that looked very much like a bow. He dropped his neck and raised his rump, letting Billie slide over his head and fall into the shimmering blue water. Upon resurfacing, Billie Joe spluttered and shook out his medium-length black locks. He squinted his brilliant emerald green eyes against the sun's glaring reflection on the water and decided to head for the beach. As soon as he turned around he realized he wasn't alone. And he was in his boxers.
Several expressions ran across his face, one giving way to the next. Confusion, slight embarassment, shyness, thought, and more confusion. The girl who lay on the beach looked pretty young, as if she might be in high school still. If this was the case, the last thing he wanted to do was get involved. Not that he only got into relationships based on age, or anything, but he was 23. That meant potential legal issues, lawyers, and uninteresting days in court. Talk about a regular snoozefest.
Billie suddenly became aware of the fact that water was dripping down his sculpted pecs and six-pack, something that usually meant girls going after him. He attempted to call Sinbad over to him quietly, but the stallion was uninterested in his owner's legal thoughts and continued to splash about in the waters. Maybe she hadn't seen him. Maybe she didn't know he was in his boxers. Maybe she had a boyfriend. It was best to just walk up onto the beach and enjoy himself, hope she didn't come over. Well, the last part wasn't true. He'd like it if she came over, but not if there were legal issues. Legal issues bad, he reminded himself constantly, taking his eyes off her. Billie Joe lay back onto the warm sand, his hands supporting his head. He watched Sinbad dash back and forth through the waves, careful never to get too far away.

Kris
Kris might've looked young and carefree, almost like a junior or sophmore in highschool, but she wasn't. She had turned twenty three a week ago. She decided to ignore the boy and Perchon and relax on the beach. She leaned back again, sighing greatly. She was perfectly peaceful until she heard Sunskitter's neigh. The Shire was racing after the stallion. Skit! No! Kris yelled, irritated. She knew that if the mare got too playful she would end up trying to play fight with the stallion that was a good three hands taller than she was. Kris grumbled and jumped up, racing after the mare, into the surf that came up to her tighs. Skit! She growled, and ran after the mare's tail again.
Once she got around two feet in proximity to the mare's mane, she felt lightheaded, uh-oh, the couple of beers she'd had earlier were getting to her. She shook her head clear and raced after the mare whom had run again down the surf. She was standing above a form lying on the sand. Her large head was lowered, sniffing Billie's hair, trying to bite at it. Kris ran still, and finally grasped the mare's mane. Sunskitter whinnied irritably and tossed her head, trying to rid herself of the human that clung to her neck. Shhhh, Sunskitter...shhh. She murmered. She held the mare's mane. Sorry. She said flatly to Billie and walked with her mare back to the palm tree that they had been sitting at earlier. [/blockquote] {[ooc]Sorry it's sooooooo short}

Billie Joe watched the mare and stallion play out in the surf without a care. Sinbad was usually pretty good with other horses, and would most likely be playful yet shy with the Shire mare. The Percheron nipped playfully at the Shire, releasing a low whicker from his velvety soft muzzle. As the mare moved towards his rider, Sinbad followed, curious as to why she was more interested in Billie Joe than in him. Mares were curious, he decided. Very curious indeed.
Billie Joe had been laying back, eyes closed as the sun drenched his skin when the mare came over. His eyes opened as a shadow passed over him, and he looked up to see a very large nose coming towards his face. He sat up slowly, not too concerned about the Shire. The girl chasing after her didn't seem so great though, shaking her head as if trying to get rid of a dizzying sensation. As she came over to fetch her mare, he took more notice of her. From here, she looked a bit older than he would have guessed. Maybe he didn't have to worry about legal issues after all.
It's fine, he replied, meeting her eyes. But then she walked away from him. Why? His confusion took over his face as he watched her make her way back to a palm tree. Maybe he should check on her, see if she was okay. After all, she'd looked like she was near collapsing out in the surf. Maybe she was old enough to drink? Of course, he hadn't waited until he was legally old enough to start drinking. He'd better make sure she was alright. He strode over to her purposefully, long strides getting him there in seconds.
Hey, are you okay? You looked a bit out of it for a minute or so out there.

Kris
She sighed and patted Skit's forehead affectionately, gazing off into the distance, watching the Perchon continue to play. Shh, now Skitter, I'll let you play in a bit. She said quietly. She glanced upwards, watching the palm leaves blow lazily. She remembered when she was a teenager, emo and carefree. She sighed quietly and watched a gull squeel at another to get away from a washed up jellyfish.
She looked up, and stood shakily as the boy came over. Yeah...I'm fine. I bit of a hangover is all. She said matter-of-a-factly. Her eyes glanced shiftily and watched her mare prance off once again to play with Sinbad. [/blockquote]

Sinbad whinnieds excitedly as the mare came back to play with him. For a gigantic stallion, he was surprisingly frisky and playful, almost like a yearling. He kicked his heels up a bit and dashed out into the waves, whisking his tail a few times as he waited for Skit to chase him in.
Billie Joe chuckled and smiled, remembering. Been there, done that, he said, looking back down to her. She was nervously glancing over to the frollicking horses, watching them carefully. Don't worry, Sinbad's good with other horses. And he isn't about to put the moves on your mare. He assured her after meeting her gaze once more. It was then that he realized he hadn't introduced himself yet. Idiot he scolded himself.
I'm Billie Joe, and that gi-normous beast out there is Sinbad. His thumb jerked over his shoulder towards the stallion. And you are...?

The shire crow-hopped playfully and took off after the Perchon stallion. Her own silver and white tail flisked behind her, the surf wetting her up to her withers. She splashed through the turqouise wafts. She came up quickly behind the stallion and nipped at his rump, whinning anxiously.
Kris still watched the mare. It's not him I'm worried about, it's Skit! She gets awful playful. She's only a bit older than two. And she's awful big. Her father was 18 point two hands when she was concieved. He's filled out now, he was but three when she was born. She said, and stood, slightly shaky. She grinned as he seemed to scold himself. Nice to meet you. I'm Kris, and that darling little thing is Sunskitter, or Skit as most call her. She said, sarcasm gracing little.

Surprised at the nip, Sinbad spun about quickly and nipped at hers before dashing off across the waves. He tossed his head and met a few of the oncoming waves full force with his broad chest. The salty water glistened in small droplets on his jet black hide, reflecting the sun off of them. The stallion dipped his nose into the water and brought it up quickly, splashing water at the mare.
Yeah, she is pretty big. Sinbad's a bit older than her, so he should be alright. He's bigger, too. He'll keep her in line. He paused as she introduced herself as Kris. Surely it wasn't her full name. For a brief moment, he wondered what it stood for. Nowadays, it could stand for anything. Nice to meet you. He stood beside Kris and faced the ocean. I dunno about yours, but mine's not going to leave the beach. He may play like a yearling, but he knows better than to stray.

Kris...
Skit snorted as the stallion nipped her in return. Her silvery grullo mane flicked behind her arched neck. She raced after Sinbad, the waves crashing against her glistening hide, the light catching and making her seemingly sparkle with droplets of salt water. She pounded her hoof into the water, returning the splash, and she whinnied with delight. Her head was raised high as she crashed through the breaking waves.
Kris nodded in agreement. She noticed the slight confusion on his face. Kris is short for Kristeena. She said, slightly shyly, she very much disliked her full name, that was why she normally introduced herself as Kris. She shouldn't leave, as long as she has someone to play with. She said with a slight grin, watching the filly with a watchful, maternal eye.

Sinbad dashed after the mare as they went farther into the waves. He quickly came out in front of her and bucked, spraying water on to her. His flailing hooves didn't come close to hit her, just enough to get her soaked. The Percheron shook his head and released a low whinny, as if he was laughing at her. His tail whisked along the breeze, then swished against her side before Sinbad cantered towards shallower waters.
Billie Joe smiled slightly. That's a beautiful name, he said quietly, shyly. His eyes glanced down at her for a moment, then back out to the frolicking equines. We probably won't be able to get them apart when it comes time to leave, he commented as Sinbad splashed through water that came up to his knees. They seem to have hit it off pretty well. Briefly, he wondered where this stranger was from, what her story was. But that would come in time.

Sunskitter shook her entire body as Sinbad soaked her, whickering low as he whinnied at her. She wheeled and took off after the Percheron's flailing tail as he cantered toward the shallows. Her silvery nostrils were flared, taking in the salty scent of the beach and ocean. She shook the droplets of irredescent water from her mane, splattering them on Sinbad's hide. She snorted then walked up the beach, looking back at Sinbad. With a grunt, she laid down and rolled in the sand.
Kris couldn't help but blush as Billie Joe commented on her name. Thank you, she murmered, not able to meet his gaze. But, instead, hers also wandered to Sinbad, but..where was Skit? She looked down the beach. Oh Sunskitter! She grumbled under her breath. Yeah. Skit's gunna need an awfully good grooming tonight. SHe said, laughing softly, shaking her head. She had often been told that her laugh sounded like bells, but to her, it sounded raspy, most likely from the alcohol.

Sinbad shook out his pelt and walked up onto the beach as well. The Percheron, still full of energy, began cantering up and down the beach. A few minutes later, when he was well satisfied, he lay down by the water's edge, content with watching the waves reach up the sand and fall back again. His tail whisked at the occasional itch, but otherwise Sinbad seemed to be a statue.
Billie wondered why she couldn't bring herself to meet his eyes, but didn't bring it up. He watched the silvery mare roll in the white sand, making her seem almost cremello. She looks like she's covered in snow, he observed, then chuckled at her last comment. His eyes travelled over to Sinbad, laying in the wet sand. The backs of his legs were well coated from running, and now his side would be as well.
Yeah, Sinbad's gonna look like an Oreo with one of the cookie parts missing.

Skit stood and shook off, but even the shaking of her large body didn't rid itself of the small grains of sand. She snorted and walked over near Sinbad. She lay next to him, watching the waves roll in and out. Her white tail flicked at the sand on her body, but otherwise, she was mostly still. The roar of the waves hurt her ears every now and again, but she was fine.
Kris laughed easily, watching the two horses. She looks like a marshmallow. She commented, agreeing with Billie. Now, after they were over the subject of her name, she was able to meet his gaze. She laughed as his comment about Sinbad looking like an Oreo. Yeah, I can see that.

Sinbad watched the mare as she rose and approached him. Seeing she was only coming over to join him, he lay his head down onto the sand. The stallion rubbed his cheek against the grainy texture, scratching an itch. He shook off a bit, then looked over to his rider and the girl. All seemed well, he concluded. He didn't have to keep an eye out for Billie Joe today.
Yeah, she does. If she was a marshmallow, I'd so totally eat her. Billie nodded slightly, then realized in horror what he'd just said. Not that I eat horses or anything, because that's nasty. I mean, I'm not saying- he broke off with a small chuckle. Nevermind. Seeing she was ready to meet his eyes now, he locked onto her gaze with full force. Not too intimidating, of course. He didn't want to scare her off.

Skit grunted and rolled again, her light white and silver coat getting a grainy coat of tan. As the tide came in higher, it dampened her near-dry fur and she snorted at the waves, watching them come in and out. She glanced at the two riders, whom were seemingly staring at each other. She didn't usually worry about Kris, she was a big girl and could take care of herself.
Kris bit her lip and giggled as he spoke. Sure you don't, I'm sure you'll just eat Sinbad when you get home. She teased and smiled lightly as his gaze met hers. Her hair was blown irratically around, and she tucked it behind her ear, sighing, but still meeting Billie's stare.

Sinbad had been watching the mare closely for a few minutes, studying her. It seemed as though no surprises awaited him, so he turned his gaze back towards the waves. He was transfixed by them, as if every time a new wave broke and the old one was devoured it was suddenly new, something he'd never seen before.
He bit back a thought that passed through his mind, one that nearly bubbled up past his lips. It wasn't time for thoughts like that though, not yet. Why would I eat Sinbad? I love him too much to do that to him. I'd eat one of the other horses at Kingwood, blame it on rabid dogs. The breeze tossed a few of his spiky locks around, a bit of water flying off the tips as it did so. He wasn't quite sure what it was, but his eyes didn't seem to want to leave hers. Again, he kept his earlier thought under wraps, instead saying it over and over in his mind until he was satisfied.
I think you'd be much more tasty...

||Kristeena and Sunskitter||
Skit stood with a grunt, her folded legs wobbling for a moment under her weight before she strode off to stand near her owner. She pushed her large muzzle against Kris's pocket, looking for treats. "You're too spoiled for your own good, Skitter." Kris teased her horse, glancing back at Billie Joe as she turned and reached into her pocket, depositing a molasses horse cookie for Skitter. Kris ran her hand down the mare's neck affectionately and turned back to the boy whom she'd been speaking to before Skit had interuppted. Now, the large silver and ivory mare trudged back to the tide and plunged into a large roller wave. She whinnied estatically and cantered through the water, kicking up her large hooves and coming down with a horrindous splash.
As Billie spoke again, Kris felt an all-to-easy reply jump right into her brain, without thinking, she blurted: "Never, you're far too adorable to be a rabid dog." Her eyes widened in horror of what she had just let slip and a blush slipped onto her tanned cheeks, a hand over her lips in dismay. She looked at Billie breifly, afraid of his reaction. Her eyes were "as big as saucers" and her brow furrowed in frustration....After a breif awkward silence, she dropped her hand, the blush still present on her cheeks. "Well, that was embarrassing." She mumbled quietly. [/blockquote]

Sinbad's eyes followed Skit as she moseyed over to the humans. The mare had a good idea, but Sinbad was much too lazy to follow her example. He hadn't been able to play on the beath for quite some time, and it had tired him out a bit. He'd get his second wind soon. For now, it was best to soak up the sun.
Billie chuckled as Skitter came searching for treats. His gaze drifted to his Percheron for a moment before returning to Kris. The girl was sending the mare off with a molasses horse cookie. He glanced at SKit before turning back to Kris as she spoke.
Her outwardness surprised him, but he kept the slight shock off his face. Instead, an amused smile played upon his lips and lighted his eyes. Her blush only amused him further.
don't be, he replied with a small shrug. Billie Joe paused for a moment, a different light coming into his eyes. Am I now? He asked, raising his eyebrows a bit.

The flush still engulfed Kris's cheeks, Billie's impish smile and ever-lightening eyes made her only blush further. She glanced at the ground, as if she was memorizing the pattern of the sand grains. She felt her gaze raise back up to meet Billie Joe's.
"Well....."
There was a short pause in Kris's coherency, as if she was distracted by some outside force.
"...Yeah, you are."
This time, she spoke a bit more confidently, her voice not pausing or skipping a beat when she appraised his question. She scrutinized his face and expression for a moment before adding:
"Now, don't go getting a big ego about it."
She said, and her voice was back to it's teasing wistfulness. [/blockquote]
