Her smile fell, although it wasn't horribly obvious, there was a difference in her voice when she spoke, what had she been thinking? Of course he didn't care about them anymore, nearly a year was too much, apparently. She sighed and glanced at him, locking eyes with him for moment before looking away. She stroked Moon's neck, loving the feeling of the mare's silky pelt beneath her fingertips. She listened to him speak about Grand's training. She laughed lightly, softly, quietly as if she didn't want him to hear. Sounds a lot like Moon when she started her training. She murmered, and the mare looked back at her as if to say 'What? Me? Never!'

Gerard watched as she suddenly changed, somehow. He couldn't quite place it. He'd never been the best at reading people, and he'd spent almost a year without her. It was hard to remember what she did in certain situations, to remember her body language. He'd drowned it all out when she'd left once more, as he'd done before. Eventually, he'd gotten over his drinking problem-again-and tried to go on with life. He'd tried not to remember every little detail he once had. It would just make life all the more difficult. But the way her eyes had just pierced his was unbearable. The pain that bore into him from her was enormous, too much for one person to handle.
They're all like that in the beginning, he observed quietly. But his old owners never bothered to train it out of him. They thought it was fantastic that he sped up during jumps, that it would reduce their times during shows. It did, of course. But they didn't think about the fact that if he kept getting faster and faster, he'd eventually mess up terribly or even injure himself. They simply thought it was fantastic that he was enthusiastic. He shook his head, looking downwards. They didn't realize it could end up killing him. Now his eyes took their turn in boring into hers, but he didn't turn away.

Angel && Moon
She listened attentively to what he had to say. That's horrible. She murmered softly, stroking Moon, thankful that Gerard had kept believing that she would come back. She knew that if it wasn't for him, Moon would've been long gone, Chazie too. Her emerald green eyes met his, and her calves tightened. There was something int he way that he looked at her that she couldn't shake off. She couldn't look away, but she couldn't ignore the internal, metal pain that he was causing her. Her breath caught in her throat, and all of a sudden it felt as if she couldn't breathe. What was happening? It seemed as if just by looking at each other, they both shuddered. She should've known better than to expect him to 'love' her anymore. She recalled how many times he had said that, and how she had kept pushing him away. But she had finally given in that one evening, when they were in the woods with Saga and Moon...She had confessed her love for him and then the unimaginable happened...After their awkward 'morning after,' she had found that he was Bi...but...after her long troubles and dismaying sighs, she, herself had found the same.

Gerard nodded, shivering at the intensity of their locked gaze. He still felt something for her, but it was hard to place. He would always care about her, but did he love her? They'd once been happily in love. But since then, they'd grown farther apart, due to the fact that she'd been gone for a year. He missed what they had, missed being to close to her. Maybe they could make it work.
So, you know when Moon goes into heat? he asked, looking back down to the mare.

She found that she could no longer keep her gaze locked with his, and she looked away for a brief moment. The feeling of suffocation and dismay evaporated immediately. She ran her hand down the mare's neck, her fingertip brushing the edge of the pliable rein. She looked as if she was deep in thought, and she was. She was thinking, trying to sort out the expression on Gerard's face to see what he was thinking about. She sighed quietly, nearly inaudibly, and looked back over to the boy on the Freisian.
Sometime next week, if I kept it charted correctly. She replied, her gaze following his to Moon. The mare snorted anxiously and stomped a hoof. Moon, stop it. Angel muttered, and, sure as day, the mare stopped. Angel looked back at Gerard and murmered: I missed you.

Gerard held back a sigh as she looked away, unable to bare their gaze any longer. While waiting for a response, he tried to figure out what she was thinking about. After a while, he gave up, instead letting his mind wander over happier times with her. Finally she responded, telling him it was the next week. That should fit in okay with his schedule, he decided.
Next week sounds good, he said with a nod. Gerard paused as Angel began speaking again. She had missed him. His eyes lit up at the words and a small smile slid onto his delicate lips. I'm glad to hear it, he spoke, trying to keep his voice calm. I missed you too.

Angel :x: I'll Never Forget The Living H.ell
Her jaw clenched as she looked away, but was relieved when he spoke. She was able to look back at him, her green eyes hopeful. She glanced down for a moment, tracing Moon's mane with her fingertip. Her hair fell around her shoulders, giving her a hooded and masked impression.
I'm sorry I ran off, I never was taught how to react when I was loved. She said softly, looking up at his lightened eyes and small smile. She couldn't help but smile as well, although her words showed anything but happiness.

As she met his eyes once more, he could see her eyes fill with hope. So perhaps there was a chance that they might get back together. His grin widened a hardly noticable amount. When she spoke, she smiled. Gerard could tell that she wasn't happy that she'd done it, but was rather upset and depressed. The only reason she smiled was because his smile infected her. As bad memories started bubbling up from the back of his brain, he blocked them out, focusing on the present.
You've hardly had any time to be taught about love, he began quietly. You went from foster home to foster home to an orphanage to the streets. I've been on the streets quite a bit myself. I grew up in some of the worst parts of New Jersey where all there was was drugs and violence and murder. His smile had faded and he looked downwards. I remember as a little kid not being able to go play in the park because a body had been found there. Again. Gerard shook his head, as if trying to rid himself of the memories. I can understand how you could be confused. But you have to know that you've got me, and Frankie, and Matt, and everybody else here to talk to. Gerard's eyes climbed upwards once more.
I don't know what we're supposed to do, Angel.

She frowned as he spoke. She knew she shouldn't've brought it up. She slid off of Moon's back as she stamped again and loosened her girth. It's that better? She asked the horse and leaned agaisnt her neck, listening to Gerard intently. Her green eyes were downcast, but met his full force as he began to look up again. And you think I know any more than you do? She asked, a smile playing on her lips as she looked up at him, trying to make the best of a bad situation. [/blockquote]

She was trin to make everything seem better, despite the fact that it wasn't. No, I don't. He murmured quietly, finding her eyes once more. The silence spread like the Black Death, infecting the air around them. Thoughts raced through his mind, chasing one another in circles. Each was a blur, an incomplete thought that didn't make any sense. Delicate fingers ran through his black hair, as if he were trying to comb through the thoughs, to tame them so he could understand them. After what seemed like an eternity, one single thought took ahold of his mind.
What do you want to do?

As the silence spread, the effect on Moon was amazing. The mare was impatiently stamping and snorting, recieving no gratitude, only punishment from Angel. Angel's chin rested on the crest of Moon's neck and she sighed heavily, not watching Gerard. She rubbed her mare's neck, her fingertip tracing the entricate emboridered lines on the rein like a child tracing a page in a colouring book. She looked back up at him as she spoke, and immediately, a thought bubbled up to her lips. Enough moping. Let's go do something fun. She said, her regular hyperness returning. She cinched Moon's girth tighter and swung herself easily back into the saddle.

Gerard decided not to mention the fact that her response didn't answer his question. He adjusted himself in the saddle and tightened up on his reins a bit.
Alright, he agreed. Where do you want to ride? I'm guessing you won't want to stay cooped up in an arena, so which trail? Gerard paused momentarily, sorting through all the places they could go and narrowing his thoughts to the ones she would enjoy more.
We can go down to the creek, or to the spot we stayed for a week that one summer, or if you want we can just ride through one of the pastures or check in on the mustangs. He'd run his list off rather quickly and now realized he'd hardly given her any time to speak.
Wherever you want.

Angel .x.
She bit her lower lip as Gerard spoke, her mind running quickly through the list of possibilities that he had chosen. She would like to go down the road to where they had both run off to, but, there were hurtful yet life-changing memories kept there. She could've mentioned the creek, but, after Moon's earlier outburst, she didn't want any problems arising. She loved the mustangs and all, but, she really wasn't in the mood. Her thoughts drifted back to the secluded medow. That was where she and Gerard had connected the most, in her opinion anyway.
"Let's go to the medow that we stayed at that summer."
She said, her voice almost an incoherent mumble, but she was sure that he would be able to comprehend. She jerked her head in the direction of the gate.
"Do you want to go now or change mounts?"
She asked, rather politely...for Angel that is. [/blockquote]

Her watched her struggle with a decision that really shouldn't have been that difficult. it took him a moment to remember what had happened in that meadow. So much had gone on between them there. Angel had found out he was bisexual on that trip. She'd almost left him for it. But they'd recovered from that quickly, and a few nights later...
That had undoubtedly been one of the best times he'd spent with her-he was a guy, after all. But he could understand why it might be hard for her. That being said, it surprised him when she decided the meadow was where she wanted to ride. He decided not to question her motives...for now.
Well, that depends. Do you want to just ride out there and hang out for a while or do you want to stay the night?

Angel
Angel watched Gerard's reaction cross his face. She knew that now he understood her hesitation on where to ride.
"I don't really mind, either way. I'd probably be a heck of a lot easier on Sasha if we came back tonight, instead of being gone. It's not fair to put our chores on everybody else."
She explained and turned Moon out of the arena, the Warmblood mare snorted uneasily as she nearly whacked her head on the rail of the gate.
"I am going to change Moon's saddle though, so if you still want to ride someone other than Grand."
Angel mumbled as she dismounted and led Moon out of the arena. She walked the mare to the barn and unsaddled her. She put her nicer deep-seated saddle up and then pulled a dusty All-Purpose one from the rack and re-saddled the mare. [/blockquote]

I'm done with all my work. I'm sure she wouldn't mind, as long as we get all work done tomorrow, too. Gerard sighed as she exited the arena. He'd hoped that an overnight trip would remind her of better times, that maybe it could be a new beginning. It seemed she didn't want it that way, at least not yet.
Gerard dismounted Grand and led him to the stables. After quickly untacking the stallion and putting him away, Gerard walked down the aisles, trying to pick a horse. He deliberated for a few minutes before deciding to take out Black Parade, another Friesian stallion. Gerard ran a hard brush over the stallion and tacked him up. He led Parade down to Moon's stall, waiting quietly for Angel to finish up.

Angel
Like usual, Angel was thinking as she tacked up Moon and was able to have a bit of peace and quiet, with the exception of Moon's impatient stamping. Once she tighened the girth again, and looked up, meeting Gerard's gaze, she had rethought.
"You know, I think you're right. As long as you don't mind staying overnight, that is."
Angel offered, she had changed quite a bit since her beginnings at Kingwood. She wasn't the rebellous, overly-emotional girl that she used to be, she was actually able to conduct a coherent conversation without taking something completely out of context. [/blockquote]

Angel finished up quickly, and he searched for her familiar stare. As she spoke, Parade put his nose to Gerard's back and thrust him forward. Gerard smacked his nose lightly and turned to the stallion, glad to have an excuse to avoid Angel just long enough to get his excitement under control.
Parade, behave yourself, he scolded, straightening his face. He didn't want her to think this overnight trip was a big deal, despite the fact that it was for him. Once he was certain his expression was under control, he turned back to her.
Alright, cool. Where do you want to leave these guys while we pack?

Angel
A slight chuckle arose from her throat as Parade pushed Gerard forth with his muzzle. Moon nickered contenedly as she found grain in her trough.
"Spoiled horse."
Angel muttered and looked back over to Parade and Gerard.
"Moon'll be fine if I just tie her outside, will Parade be okay too?"
She asked, she had never ridden the newer of the Fresian stallions. She usually kept to her own horses for pleasure rides because she knew that she could depend on them if the going got rough. She led the grullo mare out of her stall and left the gate open as she began to lead her out. [/blockquote]

Gerard's light laugh joined hers, which combined warmed the atmostphere. Parade bobbed his head and nickered as well. The sound that came from the stallion sounded like laughter. Gerard patted Parade's neck affectionately.
Yeah, he'll be fine. Gerard and the Friesian followed Angel and Moon out of the stables. He wondered idly if Angel had ever ridden a Friesian, or any draft horse, for that matter. He'd see her ride hundreds of times on many different horses, but never on a draft.
